Safari Inspired

Friday, March 16, 2012
Seriously the weather here is absolutely crazy! Its stormy and then sunny and then its snowing the next. During this few moments between rain and snow when we get a break of sunny I run outside and grab a couple pictures. After wearing this outfit all day I realized how safari inspired this look is. All the neutral  colors are so lovely for a change. To do this look yourself use your camel or cognac color boots with your neutral jackets paired with a pair of jeans or cargo's will do wonders!

What to Wear to Face the Crowds

Monday, December 26, 2011
So after a wonderful Christmas, even if it was not so traditional, the next day is reserved for shopping. So what do you wear on a day that you will encounter crowds of people and long lines? Well you of course need to be cute, because you are never sure who you are going to run into, but you also need to be comfy to face all the lines.

This look can be easy made from your closet. To replicate the top, use a light, but baggier button up. You can use your boyfriends, husbands, or even brothers. In order to make it more fitted use a clip to gather extra material in the back. This clip won't be seen because you will add a vest or sweater to the outfit covering it up. Throw on a pair of black jeans, or if you must leggings (but make sure you can't see through them) and add a pair of boots. In the pictures below we used combat boots, but any style of boot would look good. To finish off the look add a large tote that you can throw all your amazing purchases or returns into.

3 Staples

Wednesday, November 16, 2011
I am going to be changing this weekly piece from three wardrobe staples to 3 staples. This means that I will be sharing things more than just clothing, but just about anything.

My three staples this week are:

Pakros Boots

These boots have quickly become my favorite. They go with just about anything and are super comfortable. The brand is a new one to me so I was a little bit hesitant when I bought them. Now I am more than happy that I did.

Brown Leather Jacket

I have had this jacket for a few years now. I go through phases that I wear it more than others. It has large lapels and is great to wear with any type of scarf or layered.

Black Headband

Though a headband doesn't seem like a staple, it has been for me this week. I particularly like this one because it doesn't hurt my head. There is nothing worse than getting a terrible headache because of your cute headband. This one is very simple so it goes with everything.

Cardigan, Scarf, and Boot Kind of Day

Monday, November 14, 2011
Lately I've had a terrible habit of shopping and spending too much money. This weekend I hit up Nordstrom and found some new shoes. One of the amazing new pairs was these boots by Pakros. These boots have a wire in the top so that you can move the tops however you want. I couldn't resist wearing them today. I paired it with a simple sweater and a infinity scarf. Today was a cardigan, scarf and boot kind of a day.

Boots, Boots, and More Boots

By request, from @AllThingsKate, the topic for today is boots. As most of you know I love my boots. They are what is most practical for my life living in the northwest and all of the rain. One thing to keep in mind is that boots come in so many different colors, styles, and fits that you have to find the perfect pair for you.

Over The Knee: This style of boot is best work with skinny jeans or leggings. They are amazing for work as long as they aren't too tight. I love these one particularly because they can be slouchy and not hookerish.

Tall: Tall boots are probably the most common style. They come in many different forms, such as riding boots seen above or rain boots. I often wear these with dresses or jeans but can be worn a variety of ways.

Booties: These styles are best worn dressed up. Booties are very popular transitions boots, from summer into fall or winter into spring. The nice thing about booties is that you can show them off by wearing them  with skinny jeans or under your flared jeans.

Short: Short boots are very popular for everyday wear. They can be seen like the style above or also combat boots. These personally are my favorite to wear right now.

3 Wardrobe Staples

Wednesday, November 9, 2011
This week it has been hard to come up with 3 things that I have been wearing a lot. I find that I often grab onto a couple things and wear them to death. Though for some reason this week I don't feel like I have done that at all. As I look back at the outfits from the last week, I am trying to remember what I wore. So please forgive me if this week is not as fun as weeks past.

Infinity Knit grey scarf - I recently bought this new grey infinity scarf. It has quickly worked it way into almost every outfit. It is so warm, and with it being so cold it is practical and cute.

Fergie slouchy boots - These boots were added to my wardrobe this summer, and at that time I didn't have much use for them. Now that it is much cooler I love wearing them with skinny jeans or leggings.

Tart dress - I finally had a reason to wear my favorite new dress. When you buy a formal dress you normally have a reason to wear it, but when I bought this one I did not. Though it is not a wardrobe staple I wanted to add it to this week, because it was one of my favorite thing this week.

Comfy Cute

Thursday, November 3, 2011
Today's outfit is comfy cute. When it comes to my weekday wear I often wear things that I can be worn from school to work and then to study in later. This means that my outfits have to be comfortable enough to wear all day, but also look put together because I am headed so many different places. I chose my blue and white stripped Splendid shirt and black Zella leggings for the basics of this outfit. The Steve Madden boots were chosen because the weather is changing and boots tend to keep me just a tad bit warmer. Again I added the leather jacket for an extra layer of warmth. Finally I chose the scarf in this particular color because it is often seen in the trees changing color.

Have fun with this outfit. Add different elements such as a graphic tee or jeans to give it a different look.
